I'm a runner.. what happened?

Losing weight is hard. I recently completed the army run in Ottawa and saw a great sign held by someone cheering the runners on. "If it was easy, everyone would do it", the sign said. I took that to heart and it helped push me through my run and across the finish line. My time wasn't the greatest, and old injuries flared up, but I finished the run regardless and I am proud.

A few years ago I would never have imagined that I would be a runner. I would get winded running to the end of my driveway! I have come a long way and through my progress I have developed a love of running. I feel better, I look better, and there's nothing quite like a runners high during a good run.

I started my weight loss journey a few years ago and have hit a few bumps along the way but have always come back on track. To date I have lost 52lbs and have 3lbs more to reach my birthday goal about a month from now. I prefer to set smaller goals along the way and check them off as I go.

It's raining out and cold and damp this morning. The "me" of a few years ago would use that as an excuse to drink hot chocolate and sit on my ass all day watching tv under a big warm blanket on the couch.... boy does that sound nice!!! But the new me is heading out for a run. I am currently training for a 10k race and I'm not going to let a little rain stop me.
